The Manager of Mullingar Credit Union which takes in half of Westmeath and a large part of Longford says he believes the local economy will see a major boost with the lifting of Covid restrictions.
Tom Allen says they have seen a major increase in membership over the past year with more than 2,000 new accounts opened.
He says people also continued to increase their savings this year but they are likely to start spending again now in a better business climate, and much of that money will be spent locally.
