Local election candidate 'disappointed' with Minister's stance over N61

Roscommon County Council was recently informed of Eamon Ryan's decision but has vowed to continue its campaign to see works carried out.

A local General Election candidate says she's disappointed the Transport Minister is not supporting an upgrade of the N61. Dympna Daly Finn, a Fine Gael candidate in Roscommon-Galway, was reacting to the Minister's decision not to reclassify the road as a national primary route. Roscommon County Council was recently informed of Eamon Ryan's decision but the council executive has vowed to continue its campaign to see works carried out. Arigna woman Daly Finn says she supports the local authority's campaign and hopes there's a positive reassessment of the route:

Meanwhile, Minister for Finance Jack Chambers refused to give any commitments to the project during a visit to the county last weekend.

Speaking to Shannonside News, he said Fianna Fáil would set out a policy on road safety works following the forthcoming general election:
