A local Fine Gael TD has earmarked the 25th of October as a possible date for a General Election.
Sligo-Leitrim TD Frank Feighan says he believes an electon will be called shortly after the delivery of the Budget.
It comes as both the Taoiseach and Tánaiste said they were keen for the current Government to see out its term.
Deputy Feighan, however, doesn't believe voters will be left waiting until the New Year to go to the polls.
