Gardaí are appealing to the farming community to not put their children at risk by letting them control high powered farming machinery.
The call comes after an incident in Westmeath, where local Gardaí came upon tractor being driven by a 14 year old with a 13 year old passenger.
The machinery was uninsured and hadn't been taxed in just short of 11 years.
Irish law states that a person must be 16 years of age or above and licensed to drive a tractor.
Both the teenager and their father will now face court proceedings.
In a statement on X, Gardaí say tractor safety is paramount especially as we approach silage season and the school summer holidays.
