The Department of Arts and Culture has said the details of nightclub and indoor gig operation still need to be worked through.
Questions remain about what Covid safety measures will apply to their re-opening, approved for this Friday.
Micheál Martin's comment drew laughter at this afternoon's press conference, but his other answers left plenty more questions.
He said the Government wants to see table service in nightclubs and pubs, but there may be an exception to allow bar service in nightclubs.
Guidelines also say masks must be worn, unless people are eating, drinking or dancing.
Social Democrats co-leader Catherine Murphy believes the announcement was confusing.
Also concern about capacity at indoor large events.
Micheál Martin said there will be no cap on attendances.
But the Covid mitigation guidelines say all people attending a gig will have to be seated, and suggests social distancing will be needed, which would reduce capacity.
The Department of Arts and Culture says it's accepts there are anomalies and clarification is needed, which will come "over the coming hours and days.
A Shannonside Northern Sound GP says the re-opening of larger social settings such as nightclubs is unworkable.
Former President of the IMO Martin Daly says this winter is going to prove very difficult.
He's urging people in his own practice in Ballygar to refrain from attending large gatherings.
Martin Daly says easing restrictions where alcohol is involved will be problematic; "
I certainly wouldn’t be going into those social settings this winter. I would be advising my own patients that they need to take personal responsibility for their own health.
I’ve said it for a number of months, this winter is going to be difficult. You need to make judgments for yourself also.
And one of those judgments would be to avoid congregated spaces and especially where there is alcohol involved because social distancing will not be maintained. I think some of the proposals around the nightclubs are going to be unmanageable and unworkable.
