A Shannonside Northern Sound GP is urging people aged over 40 to take the Johnson and Johnson or Astra Zeneca vaccines if offered them.
While the National Immunisation Advisory Committee is recommending the usage of both vaccines for people 40 it's understood that both only be permitted to be used if an mRNA vaccine is not available at the time of vaccination.
There are concerns for some women who are taking an oral contraceptive pill, and it's expected that people will be given a choice at that time on what vaccine to accept.
Health officials are expected to announce details on the rollout in the coming days.
