People must not underestimate the power of the sun over the course of the ongoing heatwave says a local GP.
Ballygar based Doctor Martin Daly says the expected high temperature can pose a significant danger to people.
Dr Daly is advising people involved in strenuous or physical work to do so in the morning or evening to avoid the hottest parts of the day.
He's also warning parents and guardians to ensure children are covered and not overly exposed to the sun.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan this morning, the Ballygar GP says we're too complacent when it comes to sun in Ireland:
When some sun comes along we head like lemmings over the cliff and over expose ourselves.
I think there is a complacency and an underestimation of the damage the extreme heat and sun can do to our bodies
If we look to Europe where there is an extreme heatwave and so many people are actually dying and being hospitalised in country's where they are used to dealing with heat and are often set up to deal with it better.
I would say to people not to be complacent
