A local elections candidate says Irish border checks shouldn't return despite the number of asylum seekers arriving here.
Green Party hopeful Adam Ó Ceallaigh said Ireland was capable of coping with increased immigration via Northern Ireland. The Ballinamore candidate said he was part of a generation that had grown up without the need for checks on the border. He said Government should implement alternative plans to deal with ongoing immigration.
