The All Island Strategic Railway Review report was released this week and sets out 32 strategic recommendations to enhance and expand the rail system in Ireland and Northern Ireland up to 2050.

A local Green Party representative says an All-Island Railway project is a priority for the party. The All Island Strategic Railway Review report was released this week and sets out 32 strategic recommendations to enhance and expand the rail system in Ireland and Northern Ireland up to 2050. Recommendations include linking the Sligo-Dublin Connolly service to the Galway-Dublin Heuston route.

The report states that this would greatly increase inter-regional accessibility across the northern half of the island. Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, Leitrim Green Party representative Blaithin Gallagher believes if there are successive governments who believe in the plans, it will happen by 2050:
