Ballynahown in Co. Westmeath were named Ireland's tidiest village.

Ballynahown in Co. Westmeath has been named Ireland's tidiest village.

The 2024 Supervalu Tidy Towns awards took place this afternoon.

Keadue were the county winners in Roscommon, Abbeyshrule came out on top in Longford and Carrick on Shannon were the Leitrim winners.

Roscommon and Longford town both took home gold medals.

Silver medals have been awarded to Castlecoote and Ballintubber in Co. Roscommon.

Meanwhile, Drumlish and Newtowncashel in Co. Longford and Cloontuskert and Tarmonbarry in Co. Roscommon all received Bronze medals.

Rahara in Co. Roscommon, Stonepark in Co. Longford and Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim took home Endeavour awards.

Dromod in Co. Leitrim, Longford Town and Castlecoote in Co. Roscommon were all highly commended by the judges.

County Commended Awards were handed out to Ballintubber in Roscommon, Newttowncashel in Longford and Dromahair in Leitrim.

Ballintleva NS Curraghboy in Co. Roscommon also took home a regional school award receiving €1,000.
