A local gym owner has defended gym membership costs in the Shannonside Northern Sound region following a survey by a national newspaper. According to a recent Irish Independent report, four counties in the region are among the most expensive in the country for membership. Leitrim is the most expensive for monthly fees with Longford, Roscommon and Monaghan also featuring in the top five.
However, Cathal Dineen, who runs Fullbody Workhouse Gym in Roscommon, says costs are relative when it comes to the service provided. Speaking to Shannonside News, Cathal says the more expensive gyms usually provide a more hands on service:
