Three hospitals in the Shannonside Northern Sound region have already surpassed their total trolley figures for all of 2022.
The figures presented from the INMO show the number of patients who have had to wait for a hospital bed either on a trolley or elsewhere in a ward or emergency department.
Sligo University Hospital is routinely one of the busiest hospitals in the country with 720 people recorded waiting for a hospital bed last year.
That figure has already reached 737 as of the end of August.
Similar results can be seen at Cavan General Hospital where 200 people have waited for general admission in the first 8 months of the year compared to 122 last year.
Patient numbers at out Lady's Hospital Drogheda more than doubled so far this year when compared to the full 12 months of 2022, with the Emergency Department dealing with 147 versus 61 last year.
