The Emergency Department at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe is under severe pressure today with a number of people waiting for a hospital bed. Five people are on trolleys and eleven patients are waiting elsewhere in the hospital for a bed today. Elsewhere in the region, Sligo University Hospital is also dealing with high numbers with 32 patients waiting for a bed, according to the INMO.
University Hospital Galway has 53 people waiting for a bed while The Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar is reporting that no patients are waiting for a bed. Nationally, University Hospital Limerick has the highest amount of people on trolleys today with 106.
