Local INTO rep hopes schools can stay open during latest Covid surge

The INTO are hoping no school will have to close.

The INTO representative for teachers across Roscommon and Galway says they'd prefer if contact tracing hadn't been taken out of schools.

Tommy Greally says while the teachers union would also like more clarity on antigen testing, they are hoping that schools can remain open during this latest surge of cases.

While concern has been expressed that there will be major issues with teachers being included in the "close contact" rules of 5 day isolation, the INTO representative says they're hoping that no schools will have to close.

Speaking on Let's Talk this afternoon Tommy Greally said no one wanted to be teaching or learning from home again if it's avoidable.
