A local lifeboat crew carried out a number of rescues on the water last weekend
The incidents involved a total of 9 people who were rescued from Lough Ree.
The two separate incidents occurred last weekend on the 27th and 28th of May.
Lough Ree RNLI were called to assist a fishing vessel with 3 people onboard which was drifting off the western shore of Lough Ree. The boat had struck rocks and had suffered engine damage as a result. The three people onboard were unharmed and their vessel was towed safely back to shore
The second incident occured on Sunday, where the lifeboat crew were called to assist 6 people who had run aground in their boat. The 40ft cruiser had become stuck on rocks east of Carberry Island. There were no injuries reported and the vessel was towed off the rocks and was able to carry on under its own power.
These 2 incidents bring the total amount of callouts to 6 this month, and 12 for this year so far.
