Local Men's Sheds have welcomed yesterday's announcement that €1 million in funding will be allocated to sheds across the country. Men's Sheds in the Shannonside Northern Sound region can now apply for grants of up to €3,000 towards running costs. The announcement was made by Minister Heather Humphreys and will benefit the estimated 435 Men's Sheds across the country.
Longford Town Shed member Peter Duffy said sheds were an important social outlet and had many positive benefits. Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound News, Peter said the funding would be well spent:
