A mental health facility in a local hospital was found to be highly compliant following its most recent annual inspection. The adult mental health unit at Sligo University Hospital achieved a 97% compliance rate, according to the mental health commission (MHC). The commission flagged just one area of moderate concern in the area of residents' personal property and possessions following the announced inspection last June.
In its report, the MHC found that the unit's recording of residents' monies and possessions did not contain sufficient detail. A number of quality initiatives were identified in the report including the establishment of a partnership with Sligo Rovers Football Club focussing on the national Connecting
for Life goals. Overall, the unit has seen a steady increase in its compliance score in the last three four years, up from 88% since it first opened in 2020.
