A local MEP has spoken out about the prevalence of social media abuse and the risks posed by online extremists. Barry Cowen said a zero tolerance approach was needed when dealing with those who use the web for illegal purposes.
The Fianna Fáil MEP added that online abuse was now having a greater impact on mental health than Covid lockdowns. He called on both users of social media and the platforms themselves to make every effort to expose perpetrators.
