Longford/Westmeath Minister Peter Burke is calling on the National Transport Authority to introduce a flexi-commuter ticket.
The Fine Gael TD says he contacted Irish Rail and the NTA on the matter last year and he was told the idea would be examined.
While it was also advised that any changes might not be possible before the end of 2021, Peter Burke says with the advent of the New Year he wants to see the tickets made available.
The Junior Minister says the NTA have had almost two years to consider this change and it should go hand-in-hand with government policy on working-from-home and climate change:
