A local TD and outgoing senior Minister has confirmed his department is seeking approval to re-open an emergency flooding scheme.
It comes as Storm Bert swept across the country over the weekend, causing significant flooding and disruption to services.
The Emergency Humanitarian Flooding Scheme would provide urgent support to businesses who are unable to secure flood insurance.
The Irish Red Cross previously administered and made payments under the scheme on behalf of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment.
