Local Minister Peter Burke says his upcoming St Patrick's Day visit to the US is a chance to strengthen trade ties. He was speaking following the release of CSO figures which show Irish exports rose to €224 billion last year. The Minister for Enterprise, Tourism, and Employment will visit Boston and New Hampshire next month.
He said every effort was being made to bring more employment to the Shannonside region amid growing concerns over American investment. Minister Burke added that the recent CSO figures showed a significant rise and that the US visit must be used wisely:
