Motorists in County Leitrim could be forced to wait until Mid-December for an NCT test.
A shortage of staff and a high demand is leading to long waiting times to book the mandatory car test with no appointment available in Carrick-on-Shannon until December 19th.
Meanwhile, drivers in Longford will have to wait until December 7th to get a slot at their local centre.
Castlerea is reporting the shortest waiting time locally with the next available appointment on November 7th.
Motoring journalist with CompleteCar.ie, Dave Humphreys, says availability can depend on the size of the centre:
''The larger population areas have more test centers and that does make it a bit easier but it does very much depend on where you're living and how your test center is being managed. Now, we do see that some people are getting tests sooner than when they initially see online, but it may be that you have to go to maybe not your preferred test center but one that's close by.''
