Two local organ recipients have won silver medals at the World Transplant Games in Perth.
Kidney transplant recipient Teresa Smyth from Williamstown took home second in the World darts competition.
Meanwhile Tony Gavigan who a native of Lanesborough in Longford also secured a silver medal in Golf.
They are among 1,524 participants from 46 countries, all embracing their gift of life and honouring their donors in this celebration of life through sport.
Speaking to Shannonside FM, Tony says a lot of preparation went in.
'A good bit of walking and I done a lot of practice.
My son when he was a young fella, I got him to play golf and he's out in Christchurch in New Zealand.
So I went over there for three weeks before I came out here and I had a bit of acclimatization and a bit of coaching from him because he's a fairly hot golfer.
For that that now, I am actually quite confident with tuition with that so lucky enough I got a silver medal.'
