Planning permission for 76 new houses at an existing housing estate in Longford Town has been refused by local planners.
Robbie Hannifin had applied for the development at Glenn Riada in Ballyminnion outside of the town earlier this year.
It would have consisted of 5 three bedroom units, 40 semi-detached 3 bedroom houses and 30 two bedroom housing units at Glenn Riada off the Strokestown and Athlone Roads.
Local submissions against the plan highlighted issues with the current vacancy rate in the estate, the lack of services in the area and the negative effect the development would have on surrounding wildlife.
