Residents of a Leitrim Village have lodged a planning appeal against the construction of a telecom mast locally. Vantage Towers Limited were successful in seeking planning permission for the installation of an 18 metre telecommunications mast at Sunnagh More in Cloone. The lattice tower is designed to support antennae, dishes and other associated telecom equipment and would be enclosed by security fencing.
Locals raised issues over the mast's effect on property values, local biodiversity and public health. Roscommon County planners cleared the application in April with seven conditions attached. An appeal has now been lodged with An Bord Pleanála, with senior planners due to decide on the issue in September.
