Shannonside schools are among those named in a report into historic sexual abuse published yesterday.
The scoping inquiry report included over 2,400 allegations, involving 884 alleged abusers, at over 300 schools around the country.
They include:
De La Salle in Ballaghaderreen, where there was one alleged abuse case from one alleged abuser;
Presentation Brothers's school in Carrick-on-Shannon, where there was one alleged abuse case from one alleged abuser;
St Paul's National School, run by the Marist Brothers, in Castlerea, where there were 11 alleged cases from one alleged abuser;
and St Mary’s College, Boyle.
A Commission of Investigation has been announced, but a redress scheme recommended in the report has not been decided upon.
