Fifteen local schools have been selected for a new programme to support cycling and walking infrastructure at schools.
The Safe Routes to School Programme hopes to create safer routes for walking and cycling to schools and to reduce traffic in communities where they're located.
Locally Roscommon has the highest number of schools selected in the first round with five, including Coláiste Chiaráin Athlone and St Paul's National School in Castlerea.
Three schools in Monaghan and three in Leitrim are included, with two each in Cavan and Longford.
Over 900 schools applied to the scheme across the country.
