A local secondary school has received the green light for a substantial expansion.
The Convent of Mercy Secondary School in Strokestown had applied to Roscommon County Council for the removal of 2 existing prefabs on site and their replacement with a permanent extension.
Plans include a 861 square metre two store extension to the school building, along with amendments to car parking arrangements and associated site works.
The site adjoins the former Sisters of Mercy Convent at UN Magee House which is a protected structure.
Roscommon county planners have granted the permission with 11 conditions attached.
