A local Senator has called for a new primary care centre in Ballaghaderreen. Speaking in the Seanad this morning, Fianna Fáil senator Eugene Murphy said it was crucial that health facilities are expanded in the town. The Roscommon based Senator also claimed that the population of Ballaghaderreen has increased by 40-50 per cent in the past 7 years.
Locals have been criticising the lack of services in recent months following discussions around housing refugees in the town. Senator Murphy believes it would be a wonderful statement to the local community if the project was put forward:
