A local Senator has called for an update on the proposed Galway to Athlone cycleway. The 150 kilometre cycleway is part of a national route from Dublin to Galway, with the project moving through, Westmeath, Roscommon and Galway.
Local Senator Aisling Dolan recently raised the issue in the Seanad with Minister of State Ossian Smyth. Senator Dolan believes the cycleway would boost the activity in communities:
