A local senator has expressed concerns over a proposed modular housing development in Roscommon town. The Department of Integration has confirmed it received an expression of interest for the accommodation on Castle Street in the town. A process seeking expressions of interest for the provision of modular units for those fleeing the war in Ukraine began in November of last year.
In a statement to Shannonside FM, the Department confirmed it had only recently received an expression of interest for the Roscommon town development. It said the proposal was still at the initial stages of review. Speaking to Shannonside FM, Fianna Fáil Senator Eugene Murphy questioned if Castle Street is an appropriate location for the proposal:
