A local Senator says she's frustrated over delays to works on two schools in East Galway.
Fine Gael's Aisling Dolan sought an update in the Seanad on the status of the new school building for Scoil an Chroí Naofa as well as the site acquisition for St Teresa's Special School in Ballinasloe.
In response to the Senator, Minister Josepha Madigan stated it was not possible to give a timeline for the Scoil an Chroi Naofa project as planning permission has yet to be submitted.
It emerged the delay is as a result of design questions raised by Galway County Council.
Meanwhile the Department of Education is currently in communicating with the management of St Teresa's School to appoint a design team to progress to architectural planning.
A 4 acre site has been purchased from the HSE for the construction of the new school.
Senator Dolan believes the delay to both projects is unacceptable and they must now be prioritised.
