A Longford Senator is hopeful that progress will be made on the N4 Mullingar to Longford upgrade in the coming months.
The local authority along with a number of Oireachtas members met with officials from Transport Infrastructure Ireland this morning.
Senator Carrigy says further Government funding is required by the TII in order to the progress the project.
Following a number of meetings with both the Tánaiste and Transport Minister, the Balinalee native is confident monies will be allocated.
Senator Carrigy hopes a preferred route can be identified within the next 12 months.
