A Longford senator says more supports are needed for artists and creatives. His comments come following a Grant Thornton report into Toy Show The Musical that highlighted serious failings in governance oversight and financial management.
Speaking to Let's Talk, Senator Micheál Carrigy says it wasn't just RTE staff that were affected, but also freelance artists and creatives. The national broadcaster has slashed spending on productions and new projects, financially affecting many creatives. Senator Carrigy, who also sits on the Oireachtas Media Committee, argued that proposals on new supports for the industry need to be brought forward:
