A local Sinn Féin TD says his party expects a strong performance at the next General Election.
Sligo-Leitrim representative Martin Kenny doesn't believe recent local elections results reflect the feeling of many voters.
He was speaking following his appointment as Sinn Féin's spokesperson on agriculture this week.
Deputy Kenny suggested those who voted for Government party representatives did so out of local loyalty.
