Supporting the community is a key part of local sports clubs according to a senior member of Longford Rugby Club.
Vice President of the club, Karen Lennon, says her club is proud to aid community initiatives such as the Midland Simon Community Sleep Out in April.
The Midlands Simon Community was founded in 2003 with volunteers working to support individuals, couples and families experiencing homelessness.
Both the club and the homeless service are set to be the beneficiaries from the event on the 7th of April at the Rugby Club.
Speaking at the launch yesterday evening, Karen says that those suffering through homelessness need access to supports in their own local area:
'We all dig deep in Longford to help one and other and particularly in Longford Rugby Club, everyone supports everyone.
Anything we can do to help those around us we'll do, so it's great to support the Midlands Simon Community.
From the stories I've heard from last year, there were great fun and games had so we are looking forward to more this year.
Every donation helps so there is multiple ways to donate. You can catch one of the people sleeping out or you can scan any of the posters and get the QR code that will bring you straight to the Go Fund Me page.'
