A local student recently won an award at the Heritage Council's Lego Awards.
Roscommon student James Sturgeon won first prize in the age 4-7, built heritage category for his model of Newgrange. The competition received more than 150 entries from across the island, with entrants turning to all aspects of Ireland's rich and varied built, natural and cultural heritage for inspiration. James said he chose to do his entry on Newgrange because he went on a family trip there and he loved it. LEGO Brick Artist and competition judge Jessica Farrell praised James' project by saying his model captures the current look of Newgrange in a very neat and compact way.
