A local TD is calling for long covid services to be rolled out nationwide.
It comes as figures show over 21 thousand people nationally are unable to work due to the affects of covid.
611 of those are across Longford, Leitrim, and Roscommon.
Roscommon-Galway TD, Denis Naughten, is surprised more people aren't speaking about the issue and is encouraging those affected by long covid to speak to their local TD's ahead of Wednesdays debate in the Dáil.
"For some bizarre reason, people are not talking about it. Those people that have long covid, or their families, need to make contact with their local TDs in advance of Wednesdays debate to say that this is an issue, this needs to be addressed. I don't know why people are not speaking up, but it is clear from the research data that there are far more people out there experiencing the impact of covid and that have long covid".
