Local TD calls for development of ambulance base in Athlone

A local TD has called on the HSE to finally develop a new ambulance base in Athlone.

Fianna Fáil TD Robert Troy was commenting following confirmation that a design team was to be appointed to the project later this year. He said the first step is to assess the possibility of accommodating the base behind the new Community Nursing Unit at Clonbrusk. Failing that, he said, the HSE should explore its other sites in the locality or acquire suitable lands.

Deputy Troy urged the health service to follow through on its longstanding commitment to developing the new base.
