A local TD has called for the government's intervention in the ongoing recruitment freeze in the HSE.
Sligo-Leitrim TD Marian Harkin spoke of the impact of the shortage of staff and the overcrowding of hospitals in the region at a debate in the Dáil on Tuesday.
During the debate, the politician revealed that a total of 3,926 people were waiting for a bed in Sligo University Hospital in the first six months of this year.
