A local Sinn Féin deputy is calling for the government to immediately intervene to address the core issues at the heart of the Retained Fire Service.
Martin Kenny's comments come as retained fire fighters undertake industrial action.
The Leitrim TD said that if the government does not intervene soon, all Retained Fire Stations will be forced to close in two weeks.
He urged TD's across the northwest to 'stand up' for fire fighters in their community, and the people they serve, and to urge Minister Darragh O'Brien to act now to resolve the crisis.
