A local TD is calling for a double payment to all social welfare recipients.
Sinn Fein's making the call, ahead of new cost of living measures being unveiled by the Cabinet tomorrow.
Social Protection Minister Heather Humphreys has hinted there could be a further one-off social welfare payment for vulnerable groups.
Sinn Fein's spokesperson on Social Protection and Roscommon/Galway TD Claire Kerrane says her party's proposal will see those most in need of help supported:
We have put forward the idea of a Spring Bonus that would be a double payment of social welfare to all weekly recipients of Social Welfare.
That would essentially mean that you are aiming and targeting the additional supports and payments at those who are more vulnerable people including older people, lone parents and carers.
