A Roscommon TD is calling on the Government to introduce tax free days instead of extra bank holidays.
Ireland currently has ten bank holidays however it's understood this may be increased in the coming years.
Deputy Michael Fitzmaurice believes these public holidays are of no benefit to struggling small businesses while the Government doesn't lose out on the collection of tax.
He is now urging the state to consider other ideas that would instead support those impacted by the high cost of living.
