A Longford TD is calling for a new local youth services centre to be included on the grounds of the former Greyhound Track in the town.
The site was bought by the local authority a number of years ago and currently hosts a purpose designed and built skate park.
A master plan for the site released this week shows a range of other potential services for the site including soccer pitches, ASD friendly playgrounds and connections to the adjacent Royal Canal. Local Fianna Fail TD Joe Flaherty believes the nature of the site and the future plans make it a perfect site to locate a Longford's Youth Service building. Deputy Flaherty says the service is in significant need of a dedicated centre of operations.
