A local TD has confirmed that former Longford-Westmeath TD Joe Flaherty will run for the Seanad. Deputy Robert Troy who is the Fianna Fáil director of elections for the Seanad, confirmed the news this afternoon after the party only won one seat in Longford-Westmeath.
Flaherty lost his Dáil seat to Fine Gael's Micheal Carrigy with Independent Kevin 'Boxer' Moran also regaining the seat he lost in 2020. Deputy Troy says Flaherty will now run for the Seanad and may even be a Senator before the election:
