A local TD has referred to the State's delay in adopting a legislation to ban investment in illegal Israeli settlements as "scandalous."
Sinn Féin TD for Sligo-Leitrim, Martin Kenny, is demanding the progression of a new policy which bans the state from investing in companies that profit from territories under Israeli occupation.
On Friday, the Illegal Israeli Settlements Divestment Bill 2023, proposed by Sinn Féin TD John Brady, was delayed under the instruction of the government.
TD Martin Kenny has described this current situation as "immoral," and stated that the implementation of this legislation is the "very least" that Ireland can do in solidarity with the people of Gaza.
