A local independent TD has refuted claims that the electorate's rejection of the family and care amendments was because of anti government feelings.
Deputy Michael Fizmaurice argues that the substantial no vote was made against the contents of the referendum and not in protest at the Government.
In the Shannonside region, both referendums were rejected by well over 70% of voters.
The Roscommon Galway TD has accused the government of not being in touch with the general public over these issues, and highlighted the wording of both amendments as a major problem.
Speaking to Let's Talk, Deputy Fizmaurice claims the ambiguity of the wording would have resulted in a significant amount of constitutional challenges had there been a yes vote.
