The loss of parking spaces at Mullingar Hospital is having a negative effect on staff and patients.
That's according to Robert Troy who says 85 new bays are needed at the healthcare facility.
Raising the issue in the Dail this week Deputy Troy welcomed the development of the MRI Unit and work on the Outpatient Department however he says this has resulted in the removal of much needed parking.
The Fianna Fail Representative called on the Health Minister to provide funding for a car park project.
"Can I ask you to bring forward to Minister Donnelly the need for a capital allocation to enable the hospital management there to make the provision for 85 new car parking spaces to ensure staff have access to car parking. They need it because they work long hours, anti-social hours. They need to be able to park their cars in close proximity to the hospital and also for the patients who come to get their treatment".
