Planning Minister Peter Burke says he hopes that some obstacles to rural housing can be cleared up with new guidelines to be published early next year.
The Longford/Westmeath Deputy says he wants the message to be clarified that there is no "agenda" in government to force people to live in the more populated areas of a county.
The Fine Gael TD chaired the first Planning Advisory Forum meeting this week which is reviewing planning legislation with a view to improving the planning process.
Speaking on Let's Talk today, Minister Burke says that while there are obviously some situations where planning is refused, he hopes that the process will improve with the publication of new guidelines to replace the older legislation.
