Local TD offered Leas-Cathaoirleach role following Ministerial disappointment

Frank Feighan expressed his disappointment at not being named as one of the 19 Junior Ministers named by the new Government yesterday.

Sligo Leitrim TD Frank Feighan has been offered the role of Leas-Cathaoirleach of the Dail when Simon Harris takes the office of the Taoiseach back in 2027. The Fine Gael TD expressed his disappointment at not being named as one of the 19 Junior Minister named by the new Government yesterday. Longford Westmeath TD Robert Troy returns as a Junior Minister in the Department of Finance having resigned over amid controversy over his property holdings during the last Government. He joins constituency colleagues Kevin 'Boxer' Moran and Peter Burke who have been given control over the OPW and the Department of Enterprise and Tourism respectively.

Sligo Leitrim Independent Marian Harkin will also take up a Minister of State position in the coming months. Deputy Feighan says he stands by his record in politics in the North West and will continue his work.
